‭Matthew 6:5 NIV‬

[5]  “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

Written by Jung

What reward will you have if you make your amazing deeds known to many?

I assume you will be respected and revered, which comes with numerous benefits in life. Even though this might be questionable in God's eyes, you will still be rewarded handsomely for it.

Yet, this is a different reward than what we truly seek. If you desired an intimate relationship with God, you would approach things differently to achieve that.

I have come to realize that there isn't necessarily a right or wrong way to pray; rather, you will receive what you wish for.

If you seek an intimate relationship with God, it will be granted to you. If you desire the respect and reverence of others, you shall have it. Thus, we act in certain ways to obtain what we desire.

So, don't just try to do things the "right" way, but examine what you truly desire. When your desires are elsewhere, merely adjusting your actions won’t suffice.

But seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be given to you as well.
