‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

[12] “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

What are the things that benefit us as opposed to causing harm?

This question arises from Paul's letter to the Corinthians, in which he addresses sexual immorality. It suggests that being sexually immoral harms us rather than benefits us.

How do we determine what is beneficial and what is not? What measures should we use? I don't believe it is a 'yes' or 'no' question for us anymore.

I believe that anything capable of gaining such a stronghold over us that we lose sight of Jesus is precisely that harmful influence. We often think that a little indulgence here and there won't hurt. However, as the saying goes, "If you play with fire, you're going to get burned."

Therefore, what benefits us is anything that brings us closer to God. Conversely, what harms us is anything that distances God from our hearts, even if it is to the slightest degree.

It's as simple as that. Be on guard, my family.
