The phrase "be awake" is recurring theme in the New Testament of the Bible, particularly in the teachings of Jesus. It is often used metaphorically to encourage vigilance, spiritual awareness, and preparedness for the coming of the kingdom of God or return of Jesus. 

What are the responsibilities that could be mentioned. Taking care of our environment, sharing the gospel, looking after your family, loving your neighbors, using your talent for the kingdom, using your money wisely so that it alighns with Christian life. 

More importantly, the message of being awake also extends to living a life of faith, love, and righteousness throughout one's daily life, not just in anticipation of a future event. It is a call to remain faithful and vigilant in one's relationship with God.
