I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
Psalms 116:1-2 NIV
Written by Jung
The author, probably David, is so grateful that he pledges to call upon the Lord as long as he lives.
Do you know how amazing it is for God to hear your voice? Can you tell the difference between Him listening to you or not?
Not only because you read it in the Bible, had a warm feeling, or something happened in your favor; have you ever had a concrete reason to believe that He heard you when you called upon Him?
Perhaps there isn't one definitive answer. It could be nothing and everything mentioned above that makes you certain that God has heard you. Also, it could be different for each and everyone.
One thing is for sure, though. It is hard to pinpoint one specific thing that confirms He is in a hearing relationship with you, but over time, you find yourself trusting Him more, discovering peace, and depending on Him with confidence. It is quite different from clinging to Him. It is like toddlers stop checking if their mothers are around.
And you see that you are living a different life than you worked for, but feeling more secure, since you know you are living your life according to God's will.
Then, the passage above is not something that you need to grasp but rather to read with joy and say, "I love you, Lord. Immanuel."
