See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”
Hebrews 3:12‭-‬15 NIV

When we encourage each other, merely saying nice things or, as we often do, sharing insightful wisdom is not always enough in a spiritual sense.

Sometimes, we just want to lift each other's moods, so we say positive things to encourage one another, such as "It will work out. I believe it." Other times, more frequently than we'd like, we share fitting wisdom, like "'The Lord will never forsake you,' as it is said in Deuteronomy."

It is all good, but what is true encouragement that helps them overcome the world and focus on Jesus?

True encouragement involves attesting and witnessing that Jesus is with them, even when it's difficult to see. It's not just because the Bible says so, but because you can see Jesus working in them.

That's why we need to be willing to search for and hear His voice in order to genuinely encourage one another.

They may find something to be grateful for in a dire situation or something to help them overcome their struggles, but if Jesus was not there with them, what's the use?

Recognize His presence in their lives and genuinely uplift one another. It's a testament to our true love for Jesus and for one another.
