Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”
Mark 1:35-38 NIV

Do you know why everyone was looking for Jesus? The entire town gathered at the door where Jesus was the night before because He was healing the sick and driving out demons.
However, the next morning, when everyone sought Him to witness more miracles, He left for another village. The reason behind all the miracles He performed was to serve as a sign, so people could believe He was the Messiah. Sadly, many were seeking Him solely for the miracles, so He moved on to another village to preach the truth and reveal the kingdom of heaven.
In John 6:26-27, Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him, God the Father has placed His seal of approval.'
This principle applies to us as well. We should not love Jesus just for the miraculous things He can do for us, but for His love for us and the promise of the kingdom of heaven. When we serve our people, let us remember that our priority is to reveal who Jesus is in every circumstance. What we can do for one another to meet their needs is insignificant compared to what the love of Jesus can do for them.
